Well done today lads to progress in the FA Cup. Facing lower league opposition at home is always a bit of a banana skin, and it definitely wasn't easy, but great to see our class show through in the end.
They understandably came to defend and sneak a penalty win, and for 65mins it looked like the right tactic. We probably had 5 good chances in the first 20mins, but just couldn't put the ball in the net. If one of those had gone in, i suspect we may have scored 10, but as it was Diss defended superbly, getting in good blocks, clearing off the line etc. They came into the game a bit more as the half progressed, but we were still by far the better side.
Their defence was committed though and their keeper made some good saves too. We were also guilty though of missing some easy enough chances, and maybe some players were a bit greedy too.
Eventually though, our class, and maybe their tired legs showed through, with Tendai getting on the end of a dangerous cross and sliding the ball past the keeper in around the 65th minute. Jon Challinor had come on a few mins before i think, and his experience always helps. After the 1st went in, it was always likely that we'd score a few more. Blunden scored the next, before a trademark Chally header made sure of the result, and Jack mcGovern then finished well to make it 4.
4-0 was probably unfair on them, but also fair on us as well, if that makes sense!? We were definitely 4 goals better than them, but they did well enough to maybe come away with maybe a 1-0 reverse.
But anyway, a good win. Onto the next round. I smell another cup run.
