The Leek Town manager has publicly stated that he feels his team and Graham Drury's team should get promoted, no matter what. DO YOU AGREE? Personally I DO. Both clubs have been a cut above the rest for the whole season. Both clubs have played fast flowing football to entertain the crowds. Both clubs have scored incredible numbers of goals and conceded very few - solid all round team performances. Both clubs players and management have put so much effort into this season to get where they are. Both clubs have put huge resources into challenging for promotion.
Surely this season cannot finish null and void.
What is your view, your view is and could be important. Up The Daniels

I don’t know how to link the whole conversation, but Drury on Twitter was saying last night he wants to finish the season and try and win the league. Personally speaking, if the league said the season is over now, but top 2 go up, then I’d take that. The problem is they probably won’t do that, as obviously most leagues aren’t as clear cut as ours. They’d need to have the same decision across the board. It’s a tough one for sure.

I agree ourselves and Leek are clearly the best two teams in our League. This might not be the problem who gets relegated from the Premier League would be sto the tough one. Which ever way it goes there are going to be several unhappy clubs. In cricket they have the Duckworth Lewis method of deciding unfinished Matches but I cannot think of a foolproof method of solving this dilemma without the officials making an arbitrary decision Perhaps in future a rule could be added Which stated when such a suspension Happens League position will be finalized at the point of the suspension. This would clarify for all but please let it not be necessary to ever implement it. Finally if there is to be a man of the season it has got to be the Manager. He has brought together not only a skillful winning team but also playing entertaining football and a particularly stable team. If it wasn't the Manager it would have certainly been the Groundsman who regularly prepared Top class surfaces which facilitates good football.

If it is possible to get all fixtures played by mid-May this should be the aim, with a delayed start to the next season. Failing that, promotion and relegation should be decided by each individual league in cases where there is a clear distance of, say, eight points between affected clubs and their neighbours. In our league this would certainly mean promotion for Leek and the Daniels as they are so far ahead of third place. Where places in other leagues are much closer, decisions could be made by a consensus of all member clubs with the FA as arbitrators. Yes, there will be widespread dissent and lots of hard luck stories but, by and large, promotion/relegation will have been determined by performances on the field prior to the pandemic. I would imagine that Liverpool feel the same way about the Premiership title.

Absolute priority has to be to get the season finished. FA saying professional leagues can be extended indefinitely with the issue surrounding contracts meaning they can be extended beyond 30th June., not sure whether that applies this low down but if it does a delay to next season is absolutely worth it to get the season finished. Even if we only have a 4-6 week close season for example, the integrity of the game itself has to be protected at all costs in my opinion. Of course in our league it makes sense to promote the top 2, but we haven't finished mathematically in the top 2 yet; very similar to Liverpool and my opinion that they can't be awarded the title (although they undoubtedly deserve it) until they have mathematically won it, again protecting the integrity of the game. If we cant get the season finished, however long that takes realistically without a significant delay to next season I believe it second best for the league to be decided on a modified Points Per Game basis. There are formulas out there that don't just take into account current PPG but also recent form, as that will have a big impact on the final few games with teams potentially mounting a late run. I feel leaving it as it is and even worse, voiding the season completely should be completely out of the question. Yes we all want Stamford to go up, and what unfortunate circumstances we do find ourselves in, but imagine this time 2 years ago when we beat runaway 3rd place Frickley in the semi-final of the playoffs, you would feel very hard done by if you were a Cleethorpes or Belper etc. There is no easy, problem free way to solve all this as one party will always lose. Hopefully this is one of the very few times when the FA use a bit of common sense. We all want football back and of course for Stamford to go up but to go up the right way, as we have played all season. Will be something about going up thanks to a 3/4 completed season, or on paper that will just not make it feel the same. Learning of a potential promotion sat at home on a phone screen just doesn't have the same ring to it as a last minute winner against Leek or in a playoff final and the wild celebrations that would ensue. Chewy is right, everybody at the football club has put their all in this season from the managers, players, ground staff, bar staff you name it. Let's hope we get some good news sooner rather than later.

I’m really not sure how the season can be completed, it’s going to be a long time before mass gatherings are allowed. This leaves only 2 viable options for the fa, 1; award teams ppg across all of non-league and promote and relegate clubs on league positions. 2; resume the season in Dec/Jan to finish of this current season, making it a 2 year season, but add in a clause that you must use this seasons registered players.
This aside, you have to feel a bit for clubs that have players on contract with no income, can see a few going to the wall this summer

The other thing that may have to be factored in is that teams may need to get players fit again and match ready do we go back into games cold after say a 3 month break or do we have a couple of weeks preparation and a couple of friendlies before a restart with players not training properly and together this could have a massive impact on the remaining games played out.
