League allocations released by the FA this morning. Still in the NPL, this season in the South-East division, very similar to the south division of previous years. This is only provisional I believe and subject to confirmation at the league AGM. Clubs are
Belper Town Carlton Town Chasetwon Cleethorpes Town Frickley Athletic Glossop North End Ilkeston Town Kidsgrove Athletic Leek Town Lincoln United Loughborough Dynamo Market Drayton Town Newcastle Town Sheffield FC Spalding United Stamford Stocksbridge Park Steels Sutton Coldfield Town Wisbech Town Worksop Town
Longest trips looking like Glossop and Market Drayton; which are small compared to last years treks up north. Still expect it to be a difficult league, too hard to make an early call on who will be challenging but hoping we're up there.

[/quote] I can confirm having spent the morning working out the mileage from Borderville that Market Drayton and Glossop are our longest trips however the total mileage is better than last year which is good.

Surely it would have been better to place us, Wisbech and Spalding in the south central div 1 and put Halesowen, coleshill and Daventry in NPL southeast. Would cut down on all travelling for all clubs, Poor by the Fa to just draw a line on a map rather than look at the road network.

Certainly makes sense. However, when do the FA ever do anything sensibly.
On another note, I know its early but any idea when we're going to hear of first pre season friendlies. Am pretty sure the first ones are usually announced mid to late May??

You're playing the mighty Gingerbreads on the 10th August Stamford v Grantham TownAs it's a week before season starts we might use something like our 1st time season unlike the team of triallists we used in our "Cup Final" (sic) last season

Am pretty sure the first ones are usually announced mid to late May?? Current pre season looking like this then as per the website announcement this morning Wednesday 10th July vs Pboro United (h) Saturday 13th July vs Kings Lynn (h) Tuesday 23rd July vs Holbeach (a) Saturday 27th July vs Pboro Sports (h) Tuesday 6th August vs Nuneaton Boro (h) Saturday 10th August vs Grantham (h) [By 4th August Lincs Cup vs Boston/Scunthorpe (a)] - going off what was announced a few months back?? Some decent ties in there and some good tests for the lads for the new season against some well established step2/3 sides and of course the game against Peterborough which, provided they dont do what they've done in previous years and split their squad and send them off to 2 different games on the same day, should bring in some decent pre season revenue for the club if a good crowd attends, especially for Posh fans that cant make their trip to Spain. Will also be good to face Husseys side in Holbeach. Website says "the first to be announced" so assume we will hear some more ties announced in the coming month or so but im pleased with the current games.
