Former Daniel, Steve Ward, sadly passed away this morning. Steve played in one of our F A Vase finals at Wembley and he had a wand of a left foot and boundless energy. Steve had been poorly for a while and he lost his fight at his Norwich home this morning. Having been at Stamford Boys School, Wardy leaves lots of friends from Stamford mourning his passing. R I P.

One of my first footballing favourites. His skill and long blonde hair highlighted a local pitch presence of a charismatic creative player aka Cantona/Best contribution to the team in an era of 1 sub max and matchday squads of 12
Andy his younger brother always joined our 20v20 jumpers for goalposts matches at Empingham Road from his Highland Way home with Steve & Mr and Mrs Ward.
Great player and sure he played number 10 v Billericay in 76 Vase Final my 3rd Daniels game i can recall (other 2 semi finals v Friar Lane).
Pep, John Greenwood, Ian Jarvie, Eddy Broadhust, Mr Hird & many Town lads will be mourning a great friend and footie colleague.
I knew him as my mates bigger brother who was a Daniels hero to me
RIP Steve Ward
