I’m probably not the best person to write a match review, seeing as i managed to miss 3 out of the 4 goals, but anyway... we took the lead early on when I was getting out of the car opposite the ground. (Blame Tallington). Apparently it was a freak goal? We seemed pretty much in control, with Morgan pulling the strings and Miller especially solid at the back. They equalised though mid way brought the 2nd half, conveniently when my presumably bored daughter was pretending she needed the toilet in the clubhouse. Thankfully though I did manage to see us take the lead 2-1 when I think good work by Boachie and Morgan eventually put Duffy through in the 86th minute, and he finished well with the bottom of his boot. Great scenes behind the goal, and surely that was the winner to push us back on the play off trail? Alas the celebrations upset my daughter (groups of men hugging each other in a melee doesn’t make much sense to a 2yr old!), so I left with her in the 92nd minute, as surely they weren’t getting back into it?!? Only to then hear the home crowd ‘roars’ of a goal from the car park from the second time in the afternoon. Massive shame as a win today would have given us some belief before the big games upcoming. Point to note is their pitch is woeful. I’d be annoyed with that pitch playing in the Peterboro league. Theyre a poor side too.

Their pitch is terrible the goalposts are only just about straight because wood wedged in the back

Can blame the pitch, ref etc etc however many excuses you like but that's a poor result. Have to question if we really deserve to go up anyway if we can't see out games like that. How many times have we bagged a late goal this season, seen scenes like after the Duffy goal and then gone on to still drop points. And what makes it worse is when an ex-Stamford player contributes to us losing points. Brad got more goals today than he did for us didn't he?
James Bedfords match report and Drurys post match comments are straight to the point: Anything less than maximum points from the next 2 games and we will not make the playoffs. Nothing more has to be said in my opinion. Gregg Smiths red card last week could've just ruined our chances of getting the playoffs. But we are still in it mathematically however, we have 11 games left in which we play 8 of the top 10. Probbaly the most difficult run in in the league but It means its a lot easier to jump up the table provided we get wins on the board. Would be nothing short of a near miracle if we somehow end up in the playoffs but until its mathematically impossible I'm still behind the lads.

That pitch made the Carlton one look like Wembley, impossible to play passing game as highlighted by Spaldings constant long throws and hoofballs, absolute gutting that equaliser with the last kick of the game. But I think that just about puts out any chance of the playoffs, the top 5/6 just keep winning every week and we are falling further behind, yes we are still 7 points off but the teams above that are just pulling away, 9 wins out of 11 required now for any sort of chance.

The pitch wasn’t great yesterday but it definitely wasn’t as bad as Carlton’s (and I think I’m a pretty good judge if I do say so myself), and look what we did to Carlton. They were both poor goals to give away yesterday the first Wells didn’t know too much about as he was on the floor after slipping and hit him and went in and the second was a stupid free kick to give away Eggo had called for the ball and Cook jumped into him and the Spalding player to give a free kick away there, with a player already covering the lad had his back to goal out wide is just poor decision making. When the free kick was swung in there was also the number 6 who was offside but wasn’t given I was stood right in line with it and the lino but we didn’t defend it well and really and truthfully got what we deserved yesterday nothing to do with the pitch it was just a pretty poor performance we didn’t look like scoring just some speculative efforts and two goals from mistakes by Spalding which probably evened it out with our mistakes at the back.

You can understand why Spalding don't get big crowds with their hoof ball at least we do try to play good football on our snooker table like pitch .I do think we are very spoilt with our superb stadium and facilities compared to some but alas that doesn't guarantee you higher standard football

And that's the frustrating thing, our facilities are step 2 level without a doubt but it looks increasingly likely we are to face yet another season of step 4 football. At least we should be expecting a transfer to the Southern Div 1 Central next season, which should hopefully get us out of this level of football.
Peterborough sports (in that league) could be playing teams like FCUM, Nuneaton, Rushden, Kettering etc next season while we could be playing Deeping Rangers - if thats not an incentive to try and push on in the remaining 11 games then I don't know what is.

I'd be surprised if Nuneaton are at step 3 next season, doesn't look like the current incarnation will survive the season let alone the Summer

Your not wrong there Sut they are looking for players to go on trial and want them to pay £50 each for the privilege that’s really scraping the barrel
