Wasn’t a great game by any standards but then again there wasn’t too much between the two teams two mistakes lead to the two goals which were take very well we had chances before and after the goals but nothing clear cut and there was too many poor decisions and poor passes in the game. As for the sending off I didn’t see anything wrong with the guys challenge and if the free kick had gone against usi wouldn’t have complained but we couldn’t make it count ultimately which is a shame As we would have been in a good position even with a point.

A disappointing result especially considering they are fellow play off rivals, the stats showed we matched them, and with both Tadcaster and Brighouse not playing it was an excellent opportunity to close the gap at the top and put daylight between some of the teams below us. However, its only our third loss in the league since late October and we now seem to have a settled core of lads who should see us through for the rest of the season. We have Brighouse away sandwiched in-between 2 games home and away against last seasons arch enemies Frickley. I would hope of a points return of at least 7 from the next 3 games. We have games in hand on all the teams below us, and one game over Osset who sit one place and 2 points above us. Brighouse (45), Pontefract (40), Sheffield (40) and Tadcaster (38) occupy the play off places while we are in 7th on 35. Below us, a total of 2 points separates us and 12th place Lincoln, any of those teams 2nd to 12th could be considering play offs. With the promotion rules this year meaning 2 unlucky play off winners at step 4 will not get promoted (I believe), if we are challenging for the play offs it is therefore imperative we have a high points per game ratio (our league is currently averaging one of the lowest across step 4) therefore results like Saturdays need to be turned into wins. There is still plenty of time and bar Brighouse away in 2 weeks (probably the biggest game of our season so far) on paper we have a simple February but with a tough looking March, we need to be in a position to afford to be able to lose a few points in March, not be desperate for them. John Sands has been approached by Royston and will begin talks this week according to James Bedford at the Mercury. His twitter certainly suggests he doesn't intend to leave however who knows with football and this club especially. Heres hoping he can show a bit of loyalty to the club that stuck by him through his injury and put a few in the onion bag before he leaves or even win us promotion . Hoping to get around the train strikes in 2 weeks and get to Brighouse for a massive game, but until then a certain early May night esque performance next week to Bring back 3 points should put us in good stead for the proverbial play off six pointer. Still time, still hoping. COYR
