Great result today against another well placed side that puts us properly back in the play off mix. The first few minutes we looked strong, but then they found their feet, and were easily the best side for the rest of the first half. We’ve got Danny Haystead to thank for it being goalless at half time, following an excellent penalty save low to his left. The penalty was dubious; definitely a foul, but it looked like the lad fouled (by Morgan) was offside? Thankfully; the second half was a different matter, and I’d credit Drury for making the change with Chally coming on, and also John Sands debuting. We just seemed more composed in the 2nd half, and I reckon we deserved the lead when another sub (Brown Hill) unselfishly squared to John Sands who had got himself in a great position and couldn’t miss. Great celebration too. Good to see that we didn’t sit back like we did on NYD and we carried on pushing to close the game out with a second. And when it came, what a finish (again) from Boachie. At first I thought he should have laid in the unmarked Ollie Brown Hill, but luckily the ball nestled in the top corner. 10 points from 12 since just before Christmas. As I’ve said before, Drury sides are often stronger in the latter stage of the season. Let’s keep the run going and see where it takes us.

Ps interesting to hear that Henry Winter was there today. He’s been a few times now, and also did a presentation night once. Great to see him support his local club:

Just seeing 30 minutes of John Sands today shows what we’ve been missing up front since Gregg Smith left, front 3 of Boachie, Sands and Brown-Hill looked good, they all bring something a bit different, not really been too impressed with Marselia. With Morgan back we are looking strong again, although we’re not conceding many I still don’t remain entirely convinced with Eggington, possibly the only weak link in the team.
The doom and gloom of a month ago when we were on that poor run appears to have gone, a lot more smiles on the terrace again, the playoffs look a good possibility again and we are only 5 points of 3rd with games in hand.

Did John Sands enjoy scoring that goal, or what! It wont be the best goal he scores for us, but the way he jumped over the perimeter fencing and ran up into the Terrace to celebrate with the home fans is something we wont forget for a long time.
If it had been a fan on the pitch he'd have been thrown out - but a player running into the crowd is something not usually seen - and the Referee stood patiently for him to come back on to Yellow Card him. Correct decision and about the only one the Ref got right all afternoon.
Good performance from the team today and great to see Morgan being a menace all through the game - how we missed him when he went to Barwell. Great penalty save from Danny and another 25 yard rocket from Joe Boachie. I also thought Chally played really well when he came on for the injured Burgess.
Another good crowd and the singing from the Terrace was awesome at times. Short trip to Carlton next week so no excuses for us all not being there - the team will really appreciate that sort of support. Well everyone who was there today.

Unbeilavble result that yesterday, and how important it could be if we continue to push on. After a nervy first half and a superb Danny Haystead penalty save we grew into the game in the second half. I have recently criticised Drury's substitution choices over the last few games but he got it spot on yesterday and what a reward for Sands to get his first goal for the club on his debut and as we are getting used to, another Boachie stunner. Yet another clean sheet and as Dean mentions, 10 from 12. We go to Carlton next week hoping to continue our run against a bogey side of ours and to avenge the home defeat earlier on this season. The annoying thing is, is that the league is so tight. Saying we are 3 points off the playoffs with games in hand over just about every team around us, you wouldn't think that that puts us 5 places off. Winning key games like against Lincoln and against Sheffield in a couple of weeks will be key in shaping the season and determining where we will end up come the end of April.
Thought the fans were yet again a different class yesterday and also hit a 300+ crowd, something we were so used to last season but a rare occurrence of recent months, once again the "Kop" was bouncing after the goals and at the full-time whistle (not quite the scenes of Sands' equaliser though) although did hear someone supposedly moaning (or thats certainly what it sounded like) about some chanting at the end of the game but what can you do, people never seem to be pleased by, and I say this quite confidently, the best support in the league perhaps??
3 points against Carlton next week kicking off a run of 4 consecutive away games would do great. I think a return of 6-10 points in that period would be achievable and welcomed?? On another note, just up the road a little team called Deeping Rangers have gone a round further in the FA Vase, would be great to give them some support should they get to the semis/final which are just a couple of wins away now but won't speak too soon. Believe it is the furthest they have ever got in the competition so good luck to them but the focus, as yet, remains firmly on Stamford, the promotion push hopefully gaining some momentum in 2019??

Long old trip to Willand Rovers for Deeping in the next round. (Devon). Good luck to them. i hope they go all the way. Not sure i could ever go and support them though. I've never once been to support them before, so would feel a massive fraud to then rock up to Wembley. I don't have any affinity with the town either. But let's hope they do well.

Only mentioned it as seem to remember other local clubs postponing their games when we played Wrexham so their players/fans could come and watch the Wrexham game but not sure if Deeping were one?

I could certainly have a nice day out at Wembley with Deeping Rangers, and urge them on to win. Stamford have always had a decent relationship with Deeping and we have regular friendlies with them. We know some of their hard working committee people and of course I know their Groundsman very well. It's all about football doing well in our local area, which in turn makes us all aspire to achieve everything we can with our club. Of course we all want to be the best and biggest non-league club locally, and without any doubt Stamford AFC hold that position. Yes, Peterborough Sports are at the top of their league, but believe me, that is a much easier league than ours. We should have been in there with them, because this club of ours would have done well in that league with our resources. But I take nothing away from Sports, Tommy and Jimmy Dean are doing a great job in the massive shadow of The Posh. But how sustainable is it? We have great facilities at Stamford which are going to get better and better. We have a fantastic fan base which will keep improving by time. We have the most vociferous fans than most levels of the pyramid and you are a credit to our club. We have a fantastic sponsorship base and we have a Junior and Youth set up second to none in non-league football. We have a lot to be proud of at Stamford to stake a claim as top non-league club locally - but let's hope Deeping Rangers give us a day out at Wembley as well.

Makes me laugh this does, think most posting on here forget that supporters and players of ALL local Clubs went to Wembley three times to support Stamford. Probably most keyboard warriors are too young to remember.

Probably most keyboard warriors are too young to remember. Who are the ‘keyboard warriors’ (plural)?! Most have been positive about Deeping and their cup run, and said they want them to do well?! Can’t people have a personal opinion? My own opinion is that I’ve never lived, worked or spent much time in Deeping, and thus would feel a fraud supporting them at Wembley. But i would like them to do well. That’s fair isn’t it?!

Think "keyboard warriors" is a bit unfair ryhallite, but dont think thats what he's saying weareleeds??
I always want local clubs to do well even if we have had previous with them, it would be utterly ridiculous to say otherwise. I can understand when it comes to actually going to watch however it would be an exception if any local club got the chance to play at Wembley in my opinion. I am certainly way too young to remember Stamfords Wembley visits however, I do remember local teams postponing games for Wrexham and the vast number of other supporters who journeyed up to Hartlepool in our cup run. Its would only be "jumping on the bandwagon", in my opinion, if you'd never had any interest in local football or even bothered to go and watch other teams, personally ive watched a few of the local teams in their respective league games but am certainly not saying I have some sort of right to be classed as a supporter just because they did well. I will always be firmly a Stamford supporter but certainly think I could return the favour of what other clubs' supporters have done for us when we've done well in my lifetime certainly, and for the numerous times we've been helped out before that.

I am disappointed to hear the term keyboard warrior used in a rather derogatory way. Young supporters like anon are the future of the club and their enthusiasm,sm is infectious good on them. I write as somebody in their teens saw Mathews, Finney and the great John Charles. I always read with interest what anon writes and I would encourage him to keep penning as he clearly has talent in this direction.
