Yes we are too big for this level, facilities second to none
Its an attractive move as more local(to the Leicester lads), higher league, coach to the away games - got nothing to do with how many fans you play in front of

They had a similar amount of fans at the trophy replay, we made up over half the crowd, Shame we haven’t got a chairman that would put £3/4000 into the budget each week like Barwell. Yes, it would be nice, but be careful what you wish for. Plenty of non league clubs have had similar benefactors, but when the money dries up (like it often does), the club can then be in queer street. Far better to do it by living within our means.

Shaw lane comes into mind and look where they are now good luck to Barwell. Just think it's a bit short sighted of the board not to get the better players on contract that's 3 good players they've took of us who definitely should have been offered good contracts to stay as soon as last season finished

Not entirely sure how the whole contract thing works at a club like ours in a financial sense, but the only person on a contract at the club is the one people on here want out, and that's the gaffer. Unless I'm misinformed and we do have some players on contract.

Big thing made early in the season about Harry Peasgood signing a contract. Local boy comes good and all that, what happens, he spends 3 months at Pinchbeck on loan. He is more than good enough given the chance, or was it a publicity stunt for the Academy progression rubbish?

As well as Peasgood, I think Liam Adams is on a contract, possibly Cooke as well. Not sure Drury is on a contract, might be wrong there, but he does have a few good points in the pre match write up, while many have been moaning ( me included) about Barwell pinching players, we have done the same last season and this, Eze and Seal from Quorn this season. He also says if we had kept last seasons squad and signed 2 players ( obviously strikers ) we would have walked this league, he’s not wrong.
But to make the playoffs now is going to be a tall order, winning them doesn’t guarantee promotion with only 5 of the 7 step 4 playoff winners being promoted.
Next season when we are southern midland division 1, we will piss it with all those village sides.

www.pitchero.com/clubs/stamfordafc/news/graham-signs-contracts-extension-2224462.htmlThis would suggest otherwise Shrew. But you’re spot on regarding Drurys pre match interview, again getting some top coverage in the Mercury. Still think with a turnaround in the next 4-6 weeks we can still push for playoffs but as you say a high points per game ratio is needed as not all play off winners get promoted. However with all the reprieves/teams going bust in the close season I’d be surprised if the 2 who didn’t get promoted first time round didn’t end up going up anyway but we need to get there first. To be fair it looks as if Phil has got him to draw a picture on a blank piece of paper

Reading this thread I am reminded of a phone in about sacking Alec Ferguson after Man Utd had gone three games without a win, some years back of course. What good would that have done? For the time being forget about the end of season and concentrate on week by week, match by match, bite size. IT seems to be the nature of these Leagues that a significant number of players are carpetbaggers a few with more clubs than Tiger Woods. This is not to blame the Players who will have a number of reasons to move but it does make it more difficult for clubs to maintain a stable squad as players move up, down and across.

2 wins and we're only 5 points off the play off places. Still want a change anyone?

I am not saying that a change is needed but look at the teams we have beaten AFC Mansfield stocksbridge and wisbech all in the bottom four next game will tell us if we can challenge for a play off spot hope so but let's not get carried away
