Another one bites the dust. This level of football is very difficult to keep up with and support. So many changes during a season gives you no chance. The Manager must be so frustrated. Anyone above average for this level eventually leaves.

Have just seen on twitter. Very disappointing. Was benched on Saturday, hope it wasn't another "I'm on the bench, lets throw a strop" as we often see

Anon .You're very informed to say you don't see many games. Another player who probably speaks his mind .That goes against the grain with Gresh.Or is this another player's wages he need to pacify the committee who probably won't pay big money to someone sitting on the bench?

Play them we will pay them.Don't and we won't probably our committee's attitude.

Bit of a loss, but we’ve got plenty of cover there, now a bit of free budget to pay the Wells brothers their goal scoring bonuses

Not too fused with this, I like the lad and thought he could have improved with Eze along side him. Unfortunately he has cost us a few games this season but he did seem to be improving, he was MOM against Kettering! Hopefully Miller and Eze can form a formidable partnership!
Hopefully it works out for him at his next club!

Stamford stoller. Are they leaving of their own volition or are they being forced out pushed out or poorly managed/coached.To many ins and outs without giving the team chance to blend and understand each others ideas?

Nice of you to bring me up again biggeorge. While 3/5 at the back works in these cup games to allow us to be a bit more defensive against free scoring teams, its not grahams tactic in the league, one would assume his preferred partnership is miller/eze and its unfair to keep a player of saltys standard on the bench week in week out. Ultimately salty has massive potential and Is a top top man on and off the pitch, will be missed.

Fair comment, BG60. Revolving door policy is never nice on players as they don't know from one minute to the next when and where, and indeed if, they are playing but that slightly comes with the territory at this level. Upside is it keeps players on their toes but as you suggest some can become disenchanted and disheartened pretty quickly and look for pastures new. May have been the reason for Salt's departure but that would be pure speculation on my part so will abstain from that discussion. As for tomorrow night's replay at Barwell, if there was one noticeable weakness in their team it was their back four. Looked extremely hesitant, ponderous and nervy with the long ball so get our quickest forwards out on the pitch right on the last man's shoulders, especially BFT who looked excellent when he came on, catch them on the break and one never knows, a trip to Spennymoor might just be on the cards. Roll on tomorrow night.

Talking of signature tunes, BG60. What's happened to the singing? Couple of 'C'mon you Reds' and that was just about it on Saturday with the atmosphere flatter than the local vicar's tea party, until we equalised that was! Think we need Chelsea Boy back, obviously with a tad fewer 'c' words...but only a few as he seems to be one of the fans that can orchestrate an atmosphere, essential if the Club is going places. But I stand to be hopefully corrected at Barwell by the rest of the guys!

All well and good wanting chelseaboy to come back on the terraces but when just a few months ago, there were plenty of people on here (not necessarily you though gordon) and others at the club treating him quite unfairly in my opinion. Its all blown over now though and we don't want this discussion again but im all for him to come back on the terrace with the same amount of passion and heart as he had pre ban contributing to the atmosphere, makes both the fans and players match day experience much much better

Ditto, anon, regards revisiting old ground but distinct lack of atmosphere compared to last season and a large part of that diminution must lie at the doorstep of the FA. 20 teams in a League at this level means 38 games in total or a pathetic 19 home games from which to garner a viable business model from. Add in geographical dislocation, a couple of early FA Cup matches, a few meaningless League Cup games and you have the recipe for maybe one match a week for the players and fans to get their teeth into...hardly an inspiring set-up. Thank goodness for the FA Trophy! League has become as flat as the proverbial pancake as with that amount of matches trying to attain any sort of momentum, never mind sustain it, is difficult in the extreme too, as we are unfortunately finding out. Good group of players but the FA have done us no favours whatsoever and instead of less games the remit should have been at least the same number, if not more, games. Lot to answer for, as their directive is killing momentum and appetite somewhat methinks.

The atmosphere has dropped off a little from last season although Kettering was the exception, the terrace was rocking that game! One of the most important factors in building a decent atmosphere is the presence of away fans, this creates a bit of friction which stirs the passions. The restructuring of the leagues has almost removed any real numbers of travelling fans which makes it harder to raise the atmosphere and our derbies are now against poorly supported clubs! When we played Sports in the cup both games had decent atmospheres, the other contributing fact I think is the location of the ground, I hate to say it but a bit of alcohol always adds to the noise level, gone are the days you could have a couple in town and wonder to the ground, most people drive now and that's playing its part! I did see Chelseaboy back on Saturday and he was singing along.

The games I can make we always have a few in town before walking up to the game, albeit its a good 20 minute walk. Does the FA's Alcohol rule apply at all levels?

Just a thought but there is a bar at the ground you know and it goes to the club as well

But if people have driven to the ground they aren't as likely to drink, we may get more down pre game if we had Sky as people could watch the lunchtime game beforehand.
I know its not supporting the club but there is something special about having a few beers close to a ground then walking to the ground with only five minutes to spare in a group!

I always enjoyed a beer in town before going to the old ground. Nowadays, i often drive so have to limit it to a couple of shandies. That's circumstances for me though these days too, rather than just the ground location. As for atmosphere, it just needs people to step up and start it off. I used to be able to help generate a good atmosphere at the old ground when there were 10-15 of us who knew each other, stood together and knew the songs we sang. Now, that crowd seems to stand elsewhere, or not come. I make far fewer games too, and when you're an occasional supporter, it's hard to come in and start a load of songs. I'm sure there will be a good buzz at some of the Christmas games though. As for Salty, i'm less bothered. As DTM says, he has made errors. We have Henry back and have cover. We'll be ok. Like last year, we will make a late run for the play offs (starting now) and then it's anybody's guess.

I'm sure there will be a good buzz at some of the Christmas games though. Would be great to have a dedicated fans pub in town where drinks (maybe even a light meal) could be discounted on match days with proof you are going to the game, would also allow fans to walk down to the ground together and enjoy even a few more at the ground. Appreciate this is unlikely due to the lack of people who would want to make the walk/extend their Saturday by a few hours if there are commitments elsewhere. With regards to atmosphere, having been with that crowd normally responsible for most of last season, a few I know of including myself, have extended commitments this year meaning we can't get to games as much and a few also support league clubs and often watch them. From what I understand however there's still atmosphere being generated and songs being sung, certainly mirrored last year at the games I have managed to get to. And ultimately if people think atmospheres lacking I wouldn't at all hesitate to come over and start some songs etc. Every little helps, I know the manager and players appreciate it massively.
