What a tremendous result today at Kidsgrove, smashing their 100% home record and adding to our promising cup run (and club finances). The management and players deserve the plaudits, having managed to keep fit without having a serious game for weeks. It would be so unfortunate if our league aspirations were once again thwarted by the covid mess as this must be the best squad we have had for years. The same applies to manager Drury whom I have criticised in the past. Gresh is so at-one with his players, always getting the very best out of them. Although I can rarely get to games now I am glued to all the twitter match updates on my laptop.

Hi SFOG. Was a great performance yesterday on a horrendous pitch it made a swamp look dry it was that bad with players slipping and sliding all over the place not one for passing and flowing football that’s for sure. We made the best of the conditions tho and played well Kidsgrove came at us strong to start with and missed to guilt edged chances with a sliding effort and header going wide but young Max soon got a few good touches and clearances under his belt and confidence grew from there and he did make a decent save at 0.0 and got his luck as he pushed it out straight between an onrushing attackers legs and clear but from there wasn’t tested at al as we were solid in defence with Cookie making sure things were tidy and Mikey battling in front of them. Kidsgrove were nothing really more than big hoof forward and poor old T was kicked off the park literally when the 7 tried to take his head off with a kick and then the centre half almost slicing him in two with a nasty challenge that earned both yellow cards. As usual their extremely friendly and nice goalie was yelling abuse at the officials for the entire game how he didn’t get a yellow I’ll never know but we grew into the game and Morgs had a decent shot tipped over before we took the lead with some nice football in to T his turn and shot was well saved but Sids was on hand to smash home. We kicked downhill in the second half and created a few decent chances with Vince introduced for T at halftime who must have been a relived man being targeted for what appeared annihilation during the first half. Kidsgrove had a couple of free kicks that didn’t trouble us much before the centre half who was booked in the first half charged down a clearance from Max he was nowhere near getting the ball but followed through to clatter Max off the ball and rightly received a second yellow and it was effectively game over from there. Duffs came on for Sids and should have scored when put through one on one but dragged his shot wide. We made sure when Coz got the ball and shot which the keeper saved well the rebound I think was Limb which again the keeper saved but Vino composed himself to calmly smash home.

Thanks Gary. The game against very physical opponents on a mudheap sounds almost like a WW1 battle. What a brave performance from Drury's troops! According to the Peterborough ET Stamford had two players receive red cards but surely Thorpe was a Kidsgrove player. The atmosphere at the end of the game appears to have been pretty toxic but Sean Wright should have known better than to tangle with a home supporter after the final whistle, thus earning a silly red. I assume he now misses Tuesday's cup tie!

Thanks for the report Gary. I remember going to Kidsgrove years ago and it was a bog then, so I can only imagine what it’s like currently. Great fixture for us on Tuesday now, but obviously a shame that fans can’t get to the game. As plenty of people will be interested in the match, did I see there are plans to stream the game? I’d be willing to provide some commentary if nobody else on the Daniels media team were able to do so?

With the 3rd round bye, am i right in thinking that a win v Kidderminster would put us into the Quarter Finals?

Brilliant, brilliant and even more brilliant. I hope there will be lots of comments on our amazing and dramatic win over top Non-League side Kidderminster but the icing on the cake for me was being able at last to watch a live game at the Zeeco via YouTube. Whoever made this streaming possible provided a wonderful evening for the locked-out fans and well done Dean for a vivid commentary that fully captured the excitement and drama of the occasion. I was over the moon to see just how brave and resilient the Dannies are now, so please can we have more live streaming of selected matches? I would be more than happy to pay for the service. What a magical evening we all enjoyed. At last I've seen just what a great squad Gresh has put together. Onwards and upwards!

No problem SFOG. Very privileged to have been able to be there and help out. Well done to the board for organising the streaming. It was a really professional job by Russell who apparently came over from Boston to help out. The game is still on YouTube, and i think that Russell also organises a highlights package too.
It was enjoyable doing the commentary, but it's a tough job. That's the first proper commentary i've done, and without any prep time, it certainly wasn't an easy 90mins, but hopefully it added some drama / sound to the pictures. JT's summariser analysis next to me was great too. Added some good analysis and humour to it all i thought!
