As a diversion n in the lockdown perhaps Stamord should have their own chorus. Not perhaps' Walk on' or 'Bubbles' but a distinctive singable raucous chorus however nothilng' borrowed and nothing blue' to coin a phrase. Here's the offer £20 to a local charity for every suggestion with tune and one verse One per person Close Wed 11th. Here's a starter for twenty. Tune Madam Moselle from Armentiers We're theReds from Stamford Town Parley vous We're the Reds from Stamford Town Parley vous We're the Reds from Stamford Town Always up and never down Inkey pinkey pinkey Inkey pinkey pinkey Parley vous
Two further verses I penned. I maybe an ' Inkey pinkey pin key' short? Be interested to see if there is any Response. Something for the Terrace not first night of the Proms!

Oh 'tis my delight on a shining night In the season of the year
When I was bound apprentice in famous Lincolnshire 'Twas well I served my master for nigh on seven years Till I took up to poaching as you shall quickly hear
As me and my companions was setting out a snare 'Twas then we spied the gamekeeper, for him we didn't care For we can wrestle and fight, my boys, and jump from anywhere
As me and my companions were setting four or five And taking them all up again, we caught a hare alive We caught a hare alive, my boys, and through the woods did steer
threw him over my shoulder, boys, and then we trudged home We took him to a neighbour's house and sold him for a crown We sold him for a crown, my boys, but I divven't tell you where
Success to every gentleman that lives in Lincolnshire Success to every poacher that wants to sell a hare Bad luck to every gamekeeper that will not sell his deer

Thanks Empingham and Oldsod for your suggestions. Empingham I think I recognized the words of 'The Lincolnshire Poacher? Very relevant to our area of course. Maybe easier for a choir than the Terrace but a good choice. Old sod I much preferred your suggestion to mine. Firstly it more directly connects to the present squad and secondly the lines can evolve and change with the team. A bit disappointed one or two of the regular posters did not join in but I can confirm that I shall send £60 to The Evergreen Care Trust in the names of Empingham, Oldsod and chewy.

Very generous Chewy.
I should have offered something too. I was too busy trying to think of the actual words to 'inky pinky parlez vous' though, which i don't think i've heard since Ketton Cub camp in 1985!
Generally though, the young lads make up some good songs these days. We used to have some decent songs back in the mid 2000s (Oh Stamford Town / the Kirky one / Everywhere we go / Oh ah Millaaaa), but the young lads do a good job of it now. Even if they are mostly adapted from Posh songs!

Cheers Dean. Less Ketton cubs tune from 1830s French words subbed in WW1. Inky pinkys seem to be Scottish words for parsnip and potatoes.. Generally thought the Daniels might like a signature chorus. Anyway one week through the lockdown perhaps another can provide a challenge.

So quiet. Try this. Select (a). Given one choice of any player playing anywhere in the World you would choose to join the Daniels squad (b) Any player from not now playing you would have chosen. No prizes.

The Scotty Taylor song was borrowed from the Freddie Flintoff song wasn't it?
Just remembered Marmie is Superman too. And the even better song the next season when he was playing for Grantham. You're not Superman anymore.

Ah yes the Scotty Taylor song was good. And the Marmy one too.
As for Lionel Messi (Chewy), he's obviously class. Truly one of the greats. I still think Maradona was the better player though, much as i dislike him for obvious reasons. I just think Kane would be better suited to banging goals in on a Tuesday night at Leek, which i know is a poor cliche (and probably untrue), but i wanted Kane anyway.
