A wet afternoon in Staffordshire unfortunately resulted in letting a 2 goal lead slip to a battling chasetown side who really pushed us in the second half. Morgan got a first half double, the first flicking home a corner and then dispatching a penalty away after a foul by the keeper if I remember correctly, and with Vince away he didn’t disappoint. Utterly dominant first half and going in at 2-0 it felt like the points were wrapped up. The second half was a different story, we put together some good attacks but Chasetown were definitely on top. They pulled one back from a penalty (we must be giving one away every other game nearly) and after sustained pressure a free header was sent into the bottom corner past Danny in the 83rd minute . We could’ve found the winner with a wonderful curling shot from the outside of Burgess’ boot but it hit the bar much to our disbelief. One of the two follow ups should’ve gone in but one of them was called offside. Lost a knocked out Cosmos later on in the second half who needed an ambulance to check him out and once tendai was subbed off we looked less dangerous - just shows how important those two are. Chasetown definitely looked the most likely to win it but each side had chances including a flurry of corners of our own at the death. Decent noisy travelling support too, always good to see. Still unbeaten but still no away wins this season and with a run of away games you would hope that changes. Still not looking at the table or other results, plenty more games to go and we still look strong.

I thought we were lucky to get the draw based on the second half performance. off the field Chasetown seemed to have a very original take on social distances with the half seats taped off so only to be used if you wanted too. trouble was that the seats were taped off in batches of four with four seat then open for use, how does that equal two meters social distance?. I got there early and found a seat in a block of three which I vacated when half a dozen kids decided to use the other two. Maybe I'm paranoid but it didn't feel safe distance to me.

Good to read chaps. Sounds like it could have gone either way. When i saw we were 2-0 up at HT, i thought we were cruising to 3pts. Shame that we threw it away, especially when every other side in the top 6 got a win. As you say, we definitely seem less dangerous when Cosmos / Tendai aren't on the pitch, or even when the opposition double up on them. Maybe that should give more space in the middle of the park, but we're not capitalising on it. Anyway, we're still very much in the mix and still unbeaten. We could do with converting a few away draws into wins though! Sheffield would be a good place to start!
