Yet another land of the giants side visit the Zeeco Stadium and go home knackered and disappointed.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall and The Steels had no match for Stamford's pace, passing, fitness and shear grit and hard work - this side are awesome.
Once again the boys keep a clean sheet but we have to say Danny has had probably one of his easiest games of his football career. But that's down to the 10 lads in front of him who just work their socks off for however long the Referee decides to play, bloody awesome. And I don't think the lads are yet firing on all cylinders!
I'm not trying to take anything away from the Stocksbridge lads, they worked hard and were physical, but we dragged them all over the place and it was not long before they were huffing and puffing from our relentless pressure and movement.
In the end one of their players had had enough and paid with a straight Red with an assault on Mikey.
Two more Tom Siddons goals are doing his confidence a power of good and he's now stepped up another gear. Two of our three subs come on and score a goal apiece. Another for Hicksy and again a great confidence booster for him as he claws his way back from injury. And what a great goal from Limbo, collected it so well, moved at pace to the left edge of the penalty are and curled a shot with pace into the right top corner of the goal - in most games it would have been goal of the match. Well, I left Cozzy's goal until last, but infact it was our first, what a player, what a goal, all of his own making. Their defender had the ball ready to clear 15yds away from Coz, but Coz makes up the ground before he has a chance to clear and 'nicks' the ball off him, he turns back towards goal and before anyone can get near him, he absolutely riffles the ball from 20yds out into the bottom right corner of the net, astonishing play and skill, he just gets better and better has games pass by.
Another fantastic team performance by a fantastic squad of players and it's not just the football - as Graham told some of us today, they are fantastic lads off the pitch, so nice to chat to, good for them.
Over 300 noisy fans in the Zeeco Stadium today - and why not? this is a great team to watch, a great club to support, and our attendances should keep climbing. We have a lot of very tasty games at The Zeeco to come. We have have a lot of cup finals to come at The Zeeco. Worksop, Ilkeston, Leek, Belper and Cleethorpes will bring sizable followings to our stadium over the coming months. The atmosphere is going to be electric at these games and the games will be full of action and passion, make sure you do not miss it.
We have a great fan base that is steadily increasing, Graham appreciates it, the squad appreciate it and your club Stamford AFC appreciate you all coming along, at the end of the day, there is no club at all, without the magnificent support you give us.
So, Nottingham here we come on Tuesday night, another very tough game, it always is at Carlton. Not too far to travel, so lets have a huge Stamford following there on Tuesday, and really give the boys the full 'volume'.
Stay safe all of you.
