I'll keep adding my thoughts on here for a while, as i know people like SFOG enjoy reading. It would be good if others also contributed? As i mentioned before, this forum used to be great. It's like no-one cares now!?
Great game of football last night, and one that probably both sides will have thought they could / should have won. We started like a train, and took the lead just as most of us were getting behind the goal / coming away from the bar. Cosmos did trademark run down the right wing, jinked inside and shot well. The keeper saved well, but only parried to the feet of Rob Morgan who volleyed into the net with aplomb. After that, we looked well on top for the next 10mins or so, before Ilson found their feet and played their way back into the game. They equalised from the penalty spot for a blatant foul on the right of the box (couldn't see who it was). I think that penalty would have been the first time Danny H had to do anything in the first 290mins of the season, but sadly his action was only to pick the ball out of the back of the net.
The 2nd half was end to end, with both sides having decent possession. We had the better chances, with Siddons twice coming close, and arguably could have done better with his headers. Chally came on with 20mins to go and had a chance with almost his first kick of the game, when a good ball across the box (from Tendai) fell just in front of Chally meaning his volley skied over the bar. 5mins later though, he didn't disappoint, when put through 40yards out, he shook off the defender and finished well 1 on 1 with the keeper. Great scenes to celebrate his 100th goal (again) from a good travelling support behind the goal.
At that point, i thought we'd wrap the win up, but credit to Ilson who kept battling and equalised again from the spot after Cooke's handball and susequent red card. From where i was, i didn't see a hand, but he didn't seem to complain too much.
So with 10mins to go, it was 2 all, and we were down to 10 men. Great to see us still going for the win though, showing great belief away from home with a player down. We could have won it when Morgan had a shot after Cosmos' pull back, but to be fair they had chances too.
Decent game, and although i was disappointed with a draw, it's not an easy place to go. Not many others will win there this year.
Good to see Leek lost. That helps for sure, although maybe it's Worksop we need to watch now....
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Up for the cup Saturday!?
