1964 Autumn - I was playing at right half kicking towards the west end vividly remember the 17 year old Pete Bagshaw thumping an unstoppable left footer from 30 yards on the stand side through the smoke of the 1615 steam train form Oakham; seems like yesterday !!

Not sure if my Dad was still at Wothorpe Road by then. If the haze was that thick he might not have seen it from the other end though!

I think it must have been a reserve match. I have only got Pete playing one first team game near the end of the season.
Your dad played most of the autumn in the first team that season Marc but if he was in the reserves when not he might have been playing that day.
I have some of Pete Thomas's old scrapbooks from his days running the reserves in the 60s, will have a look if I can find out any more about what match it was.

Not sure Jeremy, he doesn't recall that incident but I guess he saw a lot of goals in his time. I know he missed out on the Arsenal game, I think he spent that season at Mirrlees Blackstones. What happened to them?
