Does anyone have the actual line-ups from the Man Utd games in the early 80s? Apart from Mark Hughes and Alan Davies who were mentioned on the other thread, I'm sure that there will be plenty of names that either were or became well known.

Lou Macari and Remi Moses played in both games, maybe Scott McGarvey as well. I know that the team for the first game which was the mid season one also included Paul McGrath and Peter Beardsley who never made it at Man U but went on to great things. In the second game which was the pre season one Hughes played as did Mike Duxbury who had won his first England cap at the end of the previous season. That didn't stop him getting a 20 minute roasting from Franco Piergianni who had just been recruited from the Peterborough League.
The first game saw Man U win 2-1 after Stamford had scored first through Jan Czarnecki, the second one was 2-0 to Man U.
The Forest game saw Stamford lose 8-2. Forest's response to Stamford's second goal was to put together a slick passing move from the kick off and score without the Daniels touching the ball! Negotiating with Brian Clough was quite an interesting experience!!

Oh yes, Beardsley, I'd forgotten that he'd played. He appeared to be playing as an out and out winger at the time which is maybe why he didn't fulfil his potential at Utd.
I do remember that until he needed to stop for a pint and fag, Franco had been the best player on the pitch bar none!
What a brilliant player he would have been if he could have been bothered. I played against him for Blackos in the P'Boro Sunday League when I think he was at Eye Utd alongside the Papworth brothers (Nicky was another who should have played for longer at a higher level) and we got tanked 11-1! Dobber Foster, who was no mug himself, got nowhere near him and it genuinely seemed that he had the ball glued to his boot.

Yes Clipper Franco was a real wasted talent - I remember him having a sensational game in the FA Cup against Stourbridge who were in the Southern Prem at the time. Unfortunately he was a lad who'd rather play three games in a weekend and get all the local headlines in the ET on Monday than push himself to maximise his potential. I think there was one weekend he played for Eye on the Saturday, then Sunday morning and afternoon games and scored about fifteen goals over the weekend!
I remember going to Wembley to watch Posh play Stockport in the play off final (1992 I think) and Franco was conducting the pre match singing from the top of the steps, I recall thinking 'you prat, you could have been playing here today'.

Ist Man Utd game came up in conversation several weeks ago.
I popped to see a work associate who has his ticket (number 486) proudly framed on his study wall.
