I read with interest that Shaun Pearson has been signed by the Pilgrims. Along with Kirky and Clarky and also the loss of Chrissy Gray makes me wonder as to whether or not the Club and or Tunge wanted them at Wolthorpe Road ? Amongst this quartet of departing players we have lost not only the good dressing room banter of the skipper but also 'Player of the Season', Supporters Player of the Season and the Clubs Top Goal Scorer ! The Pearson move would also suggest to me that because of the Bosman ruling an improved offer on last seasons deal was not met by the Club in an effort to keep the player at the Club which would again tempt me to suggest that things are trying to be done on the cheap. It is alright signing players from here and there and building a squad in depth but how far does the budget stretch in order to bring in quality players and how many of the alleged signed up players will move on within the first couple of months of the season when they are not featuring in first team action.I personally wish Shaun, Tyrone,Chrissy and Jamie good luck and fortune at their respected new Clubs and await with optimism the new season in Unibond 1 South.

Sparks - I'm surprised at your post but most of your posts since Tunge was appointed have been negative. I can't think how you would have experience to make a negative judgement - I don't think Jamie will have come across Tunge as either a player or a manager.
Like a lot of supporters I look at other club forums and it was clear from your posts on the Grantham forum that Jamie was not staying at Stamford long before the budget was set for next season and before Tunge was appointed.
I know Shaun Pearson was offered a new contract and Tunge and the club wanted him to stay. Shaun naturally wanted to keep his options open in case a bigger club came in for him to give him a better opportunity. That is what has happened and Boston will have to pay Stamford compensation.
So far as the other players are concerned, as a supporter, I'd be happy for all of them to be playing here next season but you always mention the Stamford budget which suggests the only reason they are not at Stamford is that Boston have offered them more money. Is that really the only reason they have moved on? Not ambition to play at a higher level?
Tyrone has posted on here thanking the supporters and making it clear that he is looking to play at as high a level as possible to give him a chance to get back into the pro game. That's ambition.
I've enjoyed many a football chat with you over a beer at away games and I hope we will do so again. Maybe we will meet at Quorn. Loughborough or Shepshed if we are there and Boston don't have a game.

Given time to reflect on your posting of yesterday jb you are quite right in your assumtion that we don't know Tunge at all from a managerial position or even a playing one, what we have concluded from the very brief close season conversation we had with him was one of disapointment and an attitude that was bordering on being ignorant and basically the deal being offered was a take it or leave it situation to which we felt was not quite good enough giving consideration to the input that had been put in throughout the season. We must point out and remind you of the 7 day approach by Boston United which was turned down at the time as loyalty was the order of the day as a job had to be achieved at Wolthorpe Rd. At no point did we recieve any contact from the Club to try and secure the services of last seasons top scorer and due to the lack of interest we exercised our rights to talk to other clubs who had been in contact long before the end of the season and any "play off" deciders. Your statement refering to a better money offer is really quite irrelevant as most honest players would want to play at the highest level they can irrespective of any reward and would also want to play for a management who want them. That is the situation in this case and although we have both enjoyed our time at Stamford AFC the time is right to move on but would conclude by wishing everyone associated with the Club every success for the 2009-2010 season which also would include Tunge in his first season at Unibond level.

I think it's common knowledge Reading previous posts Tunge has had to cut the budget, and has resulted in Clarke and others leaving. Having seen Clarke and kirk in a few games last year and talking to fans I must say I thought they were both average and I can see why Tunge has not gone all out to retain them. I saw Clarke miss numerous chances and he didnt do enough for the team in games that I saw, I can say having spent time in Tunges company he is certainly not ignorant and takes time to speak to fans after games, I certainly bent his ear in the bar after games at deeping, I would say your comments are bitter towards Tunge because he didnt push the boat out and was prepered to let jamie go. I certainly don't think it's a huge loss and again I believe the management team have done the right thing. Pearson on the other hand will be hard to replace, he is a class act.

So you reckon that your side will be all the better without Jamie, then? I detect some sour grapes. I would have loved to have seen him back in a Grantham shirt but it wasn't to be & personally wish him every success, (but have no time for BUFC.) As for money, for some this will be a motivator. Not all non-league players have another job, so who can blame them wishing to play at the highest level, and maximise earnings, although whether this is the case with Jamie i know not.. And as much as I hate BUFC, I can't help thinking that by playing there, his ability will get some wider exposure than if he stayed with you. He probably feels that it may not be too late in his career to play full time, which he almost certainly would have before, but for the devastating injury he suffered whilst with GTFC.

bananarama if you had seen a few games last year as you said you had then how could you possibly come up with the conclusion kirky is average? i went to every game bar a couple and i can honestly say he had 2 bad games last season the other games he was as everyone says who saw the games was sensational without a doubt!!! he is a class act and as sad as i am to see him go i wish him th best in his quest to break into the pro game i know i would love to see him on the tv!!! as for clarke how could you say he was average 25 goals plus last season and he missed a few games in the non league circuit he is class and anyone who knows anything about football knows that a striker isnt judged on how many chances he misses but how many he scores look at the top pros owen misses chance after chance so did andy cole but what mattered is they got there and in the end they would have 5 chances in a game and convert 2 thats what matters and if it wasnt for the injury he had im sure he would have turned pro...

Sparks - as I said I would be happy for any or all four of those now at BUFC to still be with us next season. I genuinely wish them all the best for next season - unless we meet them in the Cup again!
Your last post ends as if you won't be posting again. I hope that isn't the case. Most of us enjoy your posts and some inside gossip from York Street will be more than welcome.
Good luck to Jamie and I'm sure we will bump into each other again.

I cant believe any of you can bemoan the fact thet Clarke, Kirk, and Pearson have left for Boston or doubt their credentials in doing so or what they achieved or didn't last season
Sure they will be on more money, but Boston are a bigger club, in fact at this level, arguably the biggest, certainly in history and even allowing for that the fact that some clubs do get bigger crowds, in levels of support generally.
You want to see their away support, it's truly incredible
People mention budgets, or lack of them at Stamford as the reason these guys have left, I dont think you can be further from the truth.
Sure they have more money and understandably harbour higher aspirations this year than we do (though who knows what will happen when the new ground comes) I have to add though, and it's only my opinion that Boston is the best NL club outside the conference and no-one can even remotely question the reasons why these three have joined them
Sure they will get more money but given the chance of staying at Stamford and moving to Boston, it's a no brainer, they had to go
You read Tyronnes post, he loved it when the supporters sang his name, well next year 1000 of them at the Jakemans wil bel. That is a hard prospect to turn down, for any player, and even if we matched their wages at Boston, do you really think they would have stayed once they knew Boston wanted them, of course they wouldn't...would you?
All budgets have to relevant, workable and sustainable, ours is and has to remain so. If that means losing a few players on the way, then it's life, it will happen, but the call from Boston is to big a shout to turn down
Might be different if it was Grantham, who apparently are paying bigger wages than we are, if they had moved there, one could call them greedy bastards who have shown no loyalty, but they haven't they have moved on but most certainly upwards, bemoan their loss for sure, but not only wish them well, keep their memories safe, especially Pearson, I rather think like Bostons goalkeeper Aaron he might not be there for long before another step up is made

Great comments h and I would have to agree with your post 100%. Boston Utd are a massive football club and will no doubt reach league status again in the next few years and these boys want to try and earn themselves the chance of acheiving that. I know at least one of the Stamford lads would have played for nothing given the opportunity to be part of the set up at York Street. Having said that, the deal was a good one and the prospect of playing in front of 1000 plus support every other week to good to miss out on. Pity Ricky wasn't given the chance to stay h but I for one hope he finds himself a good club for the 2009-2010 season....

Got to wish Kirky, Jamie and Shaun all the best, we all know they are capable of playing at a higher level than Unibond South and if I was offered the chance to play in front of crowds of four figures and mix it with FC Utd then I would take the chance. Good luck to them.

Anybody understand this post from NU? Apologies JB I am on holiday at the moment and it would appear that the computer I was using last week wiped the rest of my post. It did make sense - honest!
